- Important to bees ( both long-tongued and short-tongued) and several species of insects because this flower is one of the last to bloom in the season. Insects are a source of food to many woodland songbirds and some gamebirds. Deer often feed on the foliage of Zigzag Goldenrod.
- As with other goldenrods, commonly confused with ragweed as a source for allergies when its pollen is too heavy to be carried on the wind
- Most shade tolerant of all Goldenrod varieties. Can become aggressive if growing conditions are right
